After reading a news report of a plane crash in the Himalayas, Tintin has a dream in which his young friend Chang (The Blue Lotus), who is injured and half-buried in the snow, asks for help. The next day he learns from the newspaper that Chang was on the crashed plane and that no survivors have been found. But Tintin believes Chang is alive and sets off for Kathmandu to organise a rescue expedition. Haddock and Snowy accompany him on this journey through the snowy mountains of Tibet.
